3.2 Selecting a Built-In Testplan

After you configure the DVM control symbol, the schematic is ready to be run with one of the built-in testplans. On the LTC 3406B circuit, each test in a testplan will typically take approximately 6 seconds.

To run the built-in Sync Buck testplan, follow these steps:

  1. From the menu, select DVM > Built-In Testplans > Sync Buck (1 Input, 1 Output) as shown below.
Result: The Choose Tests from syncbuck_1in_1out.testplan test selection dialog opens.
  2. To select the six tests to run for this tutorial, check only the two items highlighted in bold below:
    • Ac Analysis > Bode Plot > Vin Nominal (checking Vin Nominal selects all three tests under it)
    • Steady-State > Steady-State > Vin Nominal (checking Vin Nominal selects all three tests under it)
  3. Click Ok to run the six tests from the built-in sync buck testplan.
Result: DVM starts the test suite running the six selected tests. For each test, DVM does the following:
    • Selects symbols on the schematic, changes the property values, and sets the analysis parameters.
    • Opens the waveform viewer briefly to capture the waveform data from that viewer.
After all six tests execute, the formatted overview report opens in your web browser.
  4. If the test report fails to open, check the command shell window for text noting the progress of the tests and any errors that may have occurred.
