This video briefly illustrates why SIMetrix/SIMPLIS is the world leading simulation tool for closed-loop power supply design. SIMPLIS can find the steady-state Periodic Operating Point of a switching power supply much faster than running a long transient. AC analysis in SIMPLIS runs fast and requires no average models to measure a Bode Plot. Transient simulations of closed-loop power supplies in SIMPLIS are typically 10 - 50 times faster than Spice. Please note, this video uses annotations and there is no sound.

Simplis Technologies, Inc. announces today the release of the latest version of its market-leading simulation engine. Version 6.0 is a strong continuation of our efforts to support our power electronics customers in their virtual prototyping processes. In practice, Virtual Prototyping requires both simulation speed and accuracy. SIMPLIS Version 6.0 introduces important new features that aim to speed up the virtual prototyping process, especially for complex power controllers with very large amounts of digital content. We have also added storage and memory management features that reduce the… Read more

Simplis Technologies, Inc. announces the release of the Design Verification Module, an add-on to the market leading SIMetrix / SIMPLIS simulation package. The Design Verification Module (DVM) enables a user to automate the execution of a suite of tests, compare the measured results with design performance specifications and generate a user-friendly test report summarizing the circuit performance of a switching power supply. Configuration of an existing circuit for use with DVM generally takes less than five minutes and the automated test configuration can save hours of work. With a few… Read more

Simplis Technologies, Inc. announces today the release of a new version of its market-leading simulation engine.  While SIMPLIS has long been the leader in simulation for analog power electronics, the new SIMPLIS 5.6 incorporates Advanced Digital simulation bringing those same capabilities to a new generation of power supply designs. SIMPLIS 5.6 allows designers of digitally controlled power supplies to effectively explore the interaction between increasingly complex digital control schemes and the resulting performance of the complete power supply system.  Updating to SIMPLIS 5.6 offers… Read more

SIMPLIS makes the process of virtual prototyping a practical option for the design of switched mode power supplies in a way that has not been available in the past.  While simulation will never completely replace hardware testing and qualification, Virtual Prototyping with SIMPLIS can detect over 50% of design errors that would otherwise go undetected until a power supply design is committed to hardware.  We know of no other design quality improvement technique that can begin to match this capability. The most productive users of SIMPLIS are using it to verify the performance of their… Read more

The new release of SIMetrix/SIMPLIS Version 5.5 is now available. A few highlights: The diode and MOSFET SPICE-to-SIMPLIS conversion routines have been redesigned to improve the quality and the versatility of the models. Users are now able to specify the current, voltage and operating temperature at which they want the conversion routine to convert the results of a Spice model into SIMPLIS parameters. By selecting and right clicking on a diode or MOSFET symbol, the user can then select "Edit Additional Parameters" to optimize the SIMPLIS model fit. Some nice features have been added to the… Read more
