Conclusions
- Most SPICE models model ta, but not the soft recovery interval tb.
- Given good experimental data, SIMPLIS can accurately model switching losses, including reverse recovery losses.
- The Lauritzen and Ma model appears to be the best reverse recovery model out there.
- Using this model, we can accurately curve fit both hard and soft recovery.
- We have chosen not to build in the Reverse Recovery model for our SIMPLIS MOSFET model extraction until we have more confidence in a good data source on which to base the extraction.
- Obtaining good experimental data continues to be a challenge.
- In the mean time, if you have good data, this Webinar describes a process that will let you add reverse recovery to any SIMPLIS FET model.
